That burger sure does look tasty. Despite the oil businesses shortcomings I must say prices appear to be dropping in many of the US states; good blog. Keep it up!

Yes, that was a fake Paypal email to me sent by the scammer. That's why I should log into paypal.com (NOT click a link in the email) and verify the payment that way.

Great post, Sam, and, yes, I realized this several years ago when Kohl's would only give me a huge discount (I get these in the mail) if I put the purchases on my Kohl's credit card... because???? because, of course, if I get a discount AND put it on my Kohl's credit card, I will buy MORE, and MORE!! Soooooo, I don't even like to shop there because of this. I only use a credit card when I order something online - and then I deduct that much from my checking account and hold it for that payment.

Wow -- 100% MORE?? Studies through the ClemsonLIFE program have proven that folks who are mentally challenged can understand the value and meaning of actual money....while even debit cards don't make a lick of sense, so maybe that's more prevalent amongst all of us than we care to admit. And it seems like all the big personal finance programs espouse the good old envelope-with-divvied-out-cash method as the only way to truly understand your finances. Me? I'm more likely to buy $1.50 coffee everyday (and maybe a cookie thrown in for good measure) when I have cash....after all, it's ONLY a buck or two (instead of swiping my credit card, which feels expensive). And, yes, I did just sign up for a rewards card...

Part of it is also the value of what you're getting -- when I use cash I tend to go for the cheapest thing overall (the coffee mentioned above) instead of what's actually BEST for me (the $5 bag of fruit or veggies), so there's a balance.

Thanks Sara. Maybe at some point I will cross over to where my posts waste more combined time for those reading it than it took me to write...but I'm not there yet.

Awesome post -- incredibly long, but very educational to those of us who are wasting time at work. Lots of good content to digest. I particularly like the authority bias....you mean they're not in their job to actually help me make my own money?!?
